Editorial policy
Western Film Spotlight aims to make careful, readable criticism of Western film culture. We separate observation from interpretation, check factual claims against reliable material and correct significant errors openly.
Accuracy and context
We check names, dates, titles and historical claims before publication, and use sources appropriate to the claim. A film's depiction is not, by itself, proof of historical fact. We identify interpretation as interpretation and avoid presenting uncertain details as settled.
Independence and partnerships
Editorial decisions remain separate from commercial arrangements. Any paid, gifted or partner-supported material is clearly labelled where it appears; a partnership does not buy a favourable review or determine our conclusions. We do not imply endorsement from a film-maker, distributor or other outside party.
Corrections
If you spot a factual error or a misleading passage, contact us with the article title and the detail in question. We review correction requests and, when a change is warranted, update the article with a clear correction note where appropriate.
Images and illustrations
Images are chosen to support the subject and used with care. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; where relevant, they are identified as illustrations rather than documentary images.
